Lieutenant Erling Riiser is part of the Norwegian special forces and has just returned from his tour of duty in Afghanistan when he receives a strange text message from a senior officer. It contains a warning that a woman's life is in danger and an order to kill the Afgan man that has her. After Erling has rescued the woman he finds out that his superior officer did not send the message. Suddenly Erling finds himself in the midst of a conspiracy and being publicly labeled as a bloodthirsty killer. Nobel takes part in both Norway and Afganisthan as Erling go about nesting up the conspiracy and clearing his name.
TV-Shows like Nobel
Generation Kill follow the U.S. Marines as they lead the invasion of Iraq, ending with them invading Baghdad itself. A journalist follows a group of distinct characters (marines) in their Humvee describing their days as they roll with the front line into Iraq.
As with all HBO shows, Generation Kill, is a splendid success. Full of military jargon and obscenities and daily military life while in war. It has also been described as a very realistic description on how it was by real soldiers.

Generation Kill, just like Nobel, is a mini-series about the military with a full season story and set in the middle east. Generation Kill has more action and less drama than Nobel and the drama parts are in the field and not back home.

The Unit follows a covert team of special forces operatives during training missions and undercover operational missions around the globe. While the soldiers are gone their wives keep their home in order and protecting their husband's secrets.
This show has a great mix of action and drama, following soldiers on missions with action and danger while having family drama and secrets back home. The action parts are also clever and not just lucky brakes and close misses.
Is The Unit good?
Nobel and The unit is similar in that both are about military life and their personal life. The Unit is more episodic then Nobel, but parts of the story has longer arcs too.

Bob Lee Swagger is a highly-decorated veteran. One day he is approached by his former commanding officer and asked to help out to prevent an assassination plot against the president. Swagger agrees to offer his expertise in this clandestine operation to save the president, but when he discovers that he is being used as a scapegoat he must do everything in his power to protect his family and clear his name.
Shooter and Nobel are similar in that both have a military man as the main protagonist who is being framed and has to clear his name.

Norway's newly elected Prime Minister Jesper Berg makes a surprise announcement that sends shockwaves across Europe. He and his environment-friendly party has decided to stop the al oil- and gas production in the North Sea. This sudden decision sends shockwaves through Europe and Russia is given the OK signal that the European Union does not mind if they occupy Norway.
Occupied has a slow start, but after a few episodes, it gets good. It's a good story about treachery and naive idealistic politician, Occupied is a good emotional thought-provoking political thriller.

Occupied is another Norwegian series with some militaristic and political themes. It has some elements in common with Nobel.
Why is Occupied recommended?
Jack Bauer is team lead of an elite team of CTU agents who protects the country from terrorist plots. They discover that the Presidential nominee David Palmer is the target of an assassination plot. Each season is one 24 hour day, and one episode is one hour.
24 and Nobel have many similar elements, like politics, action, and conspiracies. It also has season-long stories.
Why is 24 recommended?
This is the story about the Norwegian heavy water saboteurs and how they sabotaged Hitler's plan of Germany getting the atomic bomb. Hitler was planning to get the heavy water he needed for his atomic bomb from a fertilizer plant owned by Norsk Hydro. This story about how the saboteurs stopped Hitler's plan is told from four angles, the German side, the allied, the saboteurs and the company side.
This story is heavily inspired by a true story, but with some artistic liberties taken of course. It's an interesting and good mini-series that is especially recommended for history lovers.

Why is The Saboteurs recommended?
Detective Chief Inspector Sarah Lund is about to move to Sweden to join her fiancé and transfer to the Swedish police. On her last day in the Danish Police 19-year-old Nanna Birk Larsen is found raped and brutally murdered. Sarah heads up the investigation together with her replacement Detective Inspector Jan Meyer. Sarah has a very driven personality and she can't bring herself to leave the case and move to Sweden until its finished. Troels Hartmann is campaigning to be mayor of Copenhagen but struggles when links are revealed between city hall and the murder. Suspect after suspect is investigated while political pressure is strong to get a swift solution to the case.
The Killing has ha slower pace than most crime shows and in addition to the investigation, it has a heavy focus on the characters and their relationships. The investigation is also interesting and keeps you guessing.

Why is The Killing recommended?
Jack Ryan, an up and coming CIA analyst, stumbles upon a suspicious series of bank transfers that takes him out from behind his desk and into the field to hunt down a new serious threat. Luckily he has previous field experience because this hunt takes him all over Europe and the middle east in a fast and serious game of cat and mouse to catch this new terrorist figurehead that has started the preparation of a massive attack against the US and its allies.
Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan is definitely a show that is worth bing watching. It has a good season-spanning story without any episodic fillers, and it does a good job portraying all sides. Jack Ryan is not portrayed the same as in the books, but the alterations are perfect for the tv show.

The Danish Company commander Claus M. Pedersen and his men are stationed in a Taliban-occupied Afghan province. During a routine mission, the soldiers are caught in heavy crossfire and in order to save his men, Claus makes a lethal split-second decision that has grave consequences. Claus struggles with guilt over the civilian lives that he ended with his decision and also with how this impacts his own family.
A War is a realistic drama about war and its emotional impact and often moral ambiguity. This is a really good movie, especially if you want more than just action from war-related movies.
Is A War good?
A War is also about a soldier that gets in trouble. Its story also switches between a Nordic country and Afghanistan. So if you loke Nobel then you should definitely check out A War.
