This show also is accompanied by real interviews by survivors from Easy Company and their letters and journals.

Band of Brothers is a great world war two TV show that tells an realistic and captivating story about what to Easy Company during the war.

Band of Brothers and The Pacific are closely related. The pacific is like a season two of Band of Brothers, but with new people and set in the pacific instead of Europe.

Generation Kill follow the U.S. Marines as they lead the invasion of Iraq, ending with them invading Baghdad itself. A journalist follows a group of distinct characters (marines) in their Humvee describing their days as they roll with the front line into Iraq.

As with all HBO shows, Generation Kill, is a splendid success. Full of military jargon and obscenities and daily military life while in war. It has also been described as a very realistic description on how it was by real soldiers.

Berlin, 1941. Five friends set out eager for adventure and doing heroic deeds for their nation and countrymen. But as time passes are gradually forced to navigate the unconscionable moral compromises of life under Hitler.

Generation War is a superb TV series about WWII from regular Germans point of view. Absolutely worth watching if you like war related TV shows.

Steve Rogers is desperate to join the army and fight for the Allied forced in WWII, but sadly for him he is unfit for duty. He volunteers for a top-secret super soldier research project. This project is a success, but it gets destroyed by the enemy and Rogers are the only test subject. Rogers becomes Captain America. He soon finds him self fighting HYDRA, the Nazi Germany`s secret research organization. They have a sinister plan that if seceded will make them rulers of the world.

Captain America is a cool superhero, a little less powerful than some, but among the cooler ones. This is a really cool superhero movie about the earlier days of superheroes.

They are actually not similar at all. But there is one small aspect that has some similarities. One of the heroes from The Pacific that did exceptionally well in one battle was shipped back to be a public figure for the armies war bond public relations. Captain America also did this. Instead of going to fight for his country he was for a time forced to be a front figure for the war bonds PR department. And they are both set in WWII.

Full Metal Jacket is a Vietnam war movie that starts out with a group of recruits as they are pushed thru boot camp under a the ruthless Gunnery Sergeant Hartman. It shows how hard that can be, especially for some. The second part of the movie follows some of these recruits as they are sent out to war. We the one called Joker as he is covering the war as a correspondent for Stars and Stripes.

Full Metal Jacket is directed by Stanley Kubrick and is one for the all time best war movies. Just watch it.

During the Allied invasion of Normandy two brothers are killed, and earlier in New Guinea a third killed in action. There mother are about to get the letter of their deaths all at once, but when Chief of Staff, George C. Marshall, learn about a fourth brother, Private James Ryan, he decides to send some men to bring him back to his mother.

Saving Private Ryan is one of the best WWII movies, a true classic. This is one of Spielberg's best movies.

Stalingrad, or Enemy at the Gates, follows the Russian sniper Vassili Zaitsev during the siege of Stalingrad as he stalks the Germans. Danilov, a political officer, makes him publish his kills to give his fellow solders some hope. Vassili start to feel the pressure of living up to the expectations of him and at the same time the Germans sends in König, one of their master snipers, to hunt him down.

Enemy at the Gates is an OK movie. Not a great war movie, but good for an evening with suspenseful action.

Damien Montgomery has newly graduated from the mage academy as a jump mage. Jump mages are the sole reason that humanity is capable of interstellar travel. Montgomery is not from one of the main mage families so he has no connections to get a commission on a good ship. He manages to get a position on the ship Blue Jay, a better ship that he could dream of. The only reason he managed that is because this ship is chased by pirates and the last jump mage drained himself to death fleeing from them.

Starship's Mage is a great series mixing fantasy and science fiction. I love it. I'm desperately searching for more books mixing these genres in a good way like Glynn Stewart has done with Starship's mage.

I have only read then first book, and that is many years ago. I remember liking it, but I was no in a reading mood back then, however I plan to take this series up again.

Gardens of the Moon is the first in a long line of thick excellent books in The Malazan Book of the Fallen series. They are full of living characters and many plots. This series grows by also including many kingdoms, gods, wizards, and alternate universes. Its a huge and complicated series, but under all of it, it's all about war. War, conquest, and power struggles between empires, gods, and men. Battles and tactics makes up a huge part of this series.

The Malazan Book of the Fallen one of the heavies read in fantasy, but they are truly masterful. It feels like you are right in the battle together with the characters.

Legend of the Galactic Heroes (Ginga Eiyuu Densetsu) is a wast space opera. For decades, the two interstellar empires, the Galactic Empire and the Free Planets Alliance, has been locked in an interstellar war involving thousands of spaceships and millions of soldiers. This anime is full of drama, political conflicts, and war. It differ by most other animes in that it is based on a sci-fi book series instead of a manga.

This is one of the better animes out there. It's also an anime that I recommend for people who generally do not like animes. However, it is very long and old. Sadly it`s kind of hard to get hold of it legally, at least where I live.
