Portland homicide detective Nick Burkhardt discovers he is a descendant of the fared Grimms.

Grimms are a group of hunters who fight supernatural forces. They are charged with keeping the balance between humanity and the creatures of myth.

A reformed "Big Bad Wolf", now a reformed vegetarian, becomes his greatest helper and confidant.

The creators have earlier made shows like Buffy and Angle. Grimm has some high standards to live up to, and it does so remarkably well.

This Show is a kind of modern take on the Grimm`s fairytales. Grimm is especially worth watching if you like modern fantasy and police shows.

Grimm is also a serious and exiting supernatural show. One of the supernatural creatures called Wesen is very similar to werewolves, but werewolves are not exactly the main focus of the show.

Grimm is more of a supernatural police detective show than Bitten. It also has a more episodic structure, at least in the first seasons. But both shows probably have a big overlap in their audience.

If you like Bitten, then you Grimm is a good show to check out next.

Bo is a sexy succubus, and to feed she sucks the life force out of people.

For years she did not know what she was and had no control of her feeding.

She fled one corpse after another.

Until one day she accidentally crossed paths with Kenzi, a drifter, and a thief.

Bo rescued Kenzi from a date rape scum bag by killing him, which this time finally made the fae catch up with her.

The fae is split into two sides, light and dark. Each Fae must choose one of the sides, and stick to it.

Bo, who until now has lived outside the faecommunity, vows to live on her own terms. Even if it means existing alone between the dark and the light.

She manages this with the help of her mischievous, but loyal friends. Her friend Kenzi, the handsome shapeshifter Dyson and the beautiful human scientist Lauren.

While Bo tries to unravel the riddle of her mysterious past, she and her friends also have to tackle other problems that arise.

This is a really cool series if you are into this kind of stuff.

Absolutely worth watching.

Lost Girl is another exciting and suspenseful supernatural show.

The main character is a succubus and not a werewolf, but there are werewolves and other supernatural beings in the show.

Both Lost Girl and Bitten have a female main character and are set in modern times.

One of the main differences is that Lost Girl has more of a private investigator theme to it.

Mitchell, George, and Annie are in there twenties and shares an apartment in Bristol England. However, they are not an ordinary group of twenty-something. They are a vampire, a werewolf, and a ghost.

This show has some inconsistencies. Some of the rules about the supernatural changes depending on the plot. But it's still an amazing show.

Absolutely worth watching.

Being Human is another suspenseful supernatural show with lots of twists and turns. It is not as serious as Bitten, but it is also not fully on the humoristic side.

One of the main characters is a werewolf, but there are other supernatural beings that have just as much focus on the show.

Both shows are set in modern times and most of their audience probably overlaps each other.

A teenage girl is murdered in the small town of Hemlock Grove in Pennsylvania. In this small town secrets are part of daily life and the darkest evils hide in plain sight.

Will the hunt for the killer fin just one monster, or will many come out from where they hide?

Hemlock Grove and Bitten are both exciting and suspenseful supernatural shows with lots of twists and turns.

It has werewolves in it, but it is not the main focus.

Both shows are also on the serious side.

If you like Bitten and want something more smalltown mystery styled then Hemlock Grove is an excellent show.

A trio of bounty hunters lives in a solar system ruled by a tyrannical corporation known only as The Company. The Company is a class-based corporation that rules the system with an iron fist.

The bounty hunter trio lives hard, party all night, and they work for an Independent interplanetary organization of assassins and retrieval experts called R.A.C.

People working for R.A.C. are known as reclamation agents or more commonly Killjoys. Killjoys only follow one law, and that is "The Warrant is all". Warrants are official documents issued by the R.A.C. which authorize Killjoys to conduct missions.

The whole system is verging on revolutionary war against The Company and the trio's own bloody pasts is starting to catch up with them. In this chaos, the three Killjoys struggle daily to maintain their R.A.C neutrality.

Killjoys is an exiting space western kind of show. Character development can sometimes take second place to world-building. Personally I would prefer more focus on character development, but the story is stellar.

Initially, it reminded me a little of Firefly, only not as good. But even if it is not as good as Firefly it is still a must-see show for science-fiction fans.

Killjoys is a science-fiction show. It does not really have many direct similarities to Bitten, but its a very good show and it have a slightly similar feel to it.

If you like Bitten and science-fiction shows then you will probably also like Killjoys.

Scott McCall's life changes forever when he is bitten by a werewolf and becomes one himself.

Some changes are positive, like strength, super-hearing, and super healing.

There are also problems and dangers that come along with being a lycanthrope. Dangers both from other werewolves and other creatures.

But as if that was not enough, there are also werewolf hunters out there.

I like it. I think it is better than similar shows like Vampires Diary. If you like other teen paranormal shows then you will most likely like this one too.

Teen Wolf is also about werewolves. The main difference is that it has a younger highschool age cast. But if you don't mind teen shows and like Bitten, then Teen Wolf is a good show.

The Original is a spin-off where we follow the original vampire family from The Vampire Diaries.

They are known as the first vampires and the ancestor of all existing vampires.

I find this spin-off to actually be better than the original series. The reason for this is probably that it is not as teen-focused as the Vampire Diary.

The Originals and Bitten are both tense and exiting supernatural shows. The Originals also has werewolves, but it has a bigger focus on vampires.

Sookie Stackhouse works as a waitress at Merlotte's, a bar in Bon Temps a small southern town in the states.

One day she meets Bill Compton, a 173-year old vampire. He stands out to her and they hit it off early on.

Vampires are outed to the world.

They try to be accepted as regular humans. A synthetic blood alternative called True Blood is their main strategy for acceptance.

Sookie`s life gets seriously complicated when she gets involved with the supernatural world. But Sookie is not an ordinary person herself either. She has the ability to read thoughts. Except for the thoughts of vampires. Witch is why Bill stood out to her when she met him.

True Blood is loosely based on the book series Southern Vampire Mysteries.

True Bloodis an excellent TV show.

The story separates itself from the books after the first season, but that's OK. You should watch this show.

Dracula has arrived in 19th century London. He is an American entrepreneur who wants to bring modern science to Victorian society; Nicola Tesla's wireless power.

But his true purpose more sinister. He is seeking revenge on the secret organization who ruined his life centuries ago.

Dracula (2013) is a fantastic show that ended too soon.

I don't understand why it only got one season. It had a great story with some excellent actors.

The town of Midnight is a safe place for those who are different. Its a place where the veil between our world and hell is thin and possible to breach.

Midnight is a town for vampires, witches, psychics, and others with extraordinary backgrounds. They form a strong and unlikely family as they work together to fend off the pressure from outsiders.

Jane Yellowrock is a skinwalker

She shares her body with the soul of a mountain lion and she can take any form as long as she has some bones with DNA from the shape she wants.

Jane works as a freelance rogue-vampire hunter.

In this first book, she is hired to take care of a nasty rogue-vampire in New Orleans. When she is there she comes in contact with the vampire society and learns about the "sane" vampires. She also learns more about her own Cherokee heritage.

A great story and strong characters make this an excellent series.

You should read this. Absolutely worth checking out if you like these kinds of books.

Jane Yellowrock is an urban fantasy book series with a strong female main character. The books in this series are exciting and suspenseful.

Jane is not a werewolf, but she is a shapeshifter.

If you like Bitten and want similar books then the Jane Yellowrock series is an excellent choice. Other series might be slightly more similar, but this is a really good series.

Kitty Norville is the wolf with the lowest status in her pack. She is submissive to everyone.

She has just realized that she can make it on her own working as a midnight-shift DJ for a Denver radio station. This means that she doesn't need the pack so much as she used to.

Or so she thinks...

Kitty ends up getting one sexy werewolf-hunter and a few homicidal undead on her tail.

She may have bitten off more than she can chew?

It's a while since I last read any of these books, but I remember them as fun and interesting. They are worth reading if you like urban fantasy books.

Kitty Norville is an urban fantasy series with werewolves as one of the main themes.

The main character Kitty is not as strong as Elena, but she is a female werewolf.

If you like Bitten and want a similar book then the Kitty Norville is worth checking out. Just be warned that the main character is much weaker and helpless than Elena.

Elena Michaels is the only female werewolf in the world. She was turned by her former lover Clay. He betrayed her and bit her in his werewolf form.

Elena did not like to live in the pack, so she left to live in human society. She left to live in Toronto with her human lover.

But then the pack alpha calls her to help fight a sudden uprising of murderous mutts. Mutts are werewolves not affiliated with a pack.

Elena Agrees to help fight the mutt uprising, but only because she felt she owes the pack alpha.

Once the mutt uprising is over, Elena will be squared with the pack. She will be free to live life as a human.

Bitten is an excellent book, and most of the other books in the Otherworlds series are also great. It has interesting characters and a fast-paced plot.

Bitten is a pleasure to read.

This is the original source of the movie. The book version is much better, and there are plenty of other books in the series.

But the series does not have just one main character, it switches between different main characters in different books.

Faythe Sanders is a Texas grad student and a shape-shifting werecat.

After she is attacked by a stray she is ordered home by the pack alpha, her father.

Female werecats are rare, and two others have gone missing. So it's understandable that her father is worried.

What will happen to Faythe?

The Shifters are ok paranormal books. Not the best, but still far from the worst. Give them a try, they are worth checking out.

Stray is a good urban fantasy series, but it's not about werewolves, its about werecats. 

The main character in both Stray and Bitten are female shapeshifters and females are rare in both stories.

Mercy "Mercy" Thompson's life is not exactly normal.

Her next-door neighbor is a werewolf. Her former boss is a gremlin. And she's fixing a VW bus for a vampire.

Mercy's strange connection to these strange creatures of shadow and night is about to get her into some seriously deep water.

Luckily, Mercy isn't exactly normal herself.

Moon Called is a great start for a great series. I had much fun reading these books.
