Anita is approached by Jean Claude, the second strongest vampire in the city. He wants her to help figure out who is killing vampires. Anita agrees to help out after a bit of vampiric arm-twisting.

This is the start of an excellent vampire series.

Well, the beginning of it is excellent. I stooped reading around book 10, it had started to go downhill a little before that.

But the first books are absolutely worth reading.

Sookie Stackhouse is not as straight forward hard hitter as Anita Blake, but she is strong in her own way. With her mind-reading and all that.

The only downside with the Anita Blake books is that after some books they just turn in to boring porn in book format. But the first books are very good.

Rachel Mariana Morgan is a witch in her twenties. She is a part-owner of Vampiric Charms.

Vampiric Charms is a freelance runner and security service.

The other owners of Vampiric Charms are Ivy Tamwood and Jenks. Ivy Tamwood is a living vampire that will become a full vampire if she dies, and Jenks, a small pixy.

They used to work together at the vampire-run federal Inderland Security (IS). It's a police service for the supernatural.

Rachel, Ivy, and Jenks, decided to start their own company together, Vampiric Charms.

They live and work together from a decommissioned stone church. The church is in the Hollows district of Cincinnati and has an attached garden and graveyard. Rachel specializes in simple herb-based earth magic. The Curch garden is important for Rachels's magic.

Overall, an exciting, fun read, that`s hard to put down.

This is a highly recommended Fast-paced and captivating book series.

Rachel Mariana Morgan is more of an ass-kicker than Sookie Stackhouse. But the series has many similarities. The supernatural is out to the world, there are vampires and other magical creatures. But it has more focus on magic than the Stackhouse books.

Kara Gillian is a detective and a summoner of daemons.

During a routine summoning she accidentally summoned Rhyzkahl, an angelic human-looking creature. She just wanted to use her skill to track down a serial killer.

What is this powerful un-daemon looking creature? And can she stop the serial killer?

Mark of the Demon is the first book in the Kara Gillian series. It is a really great book, just like the rest of them.

Kara Gillian is another Urban Fantasy book series with a female main character. But it focuses on daemons, not vampires.

If you like The Southern Vampir Mysteries then you will probably also like the Kara Gillian series.

Mercy "Mercy" Thompson's life is not exactly normal.

Her next-door neighbor is a werewolf. Her former boss is a gremlin. And she's fixing a VW bus for a vampire.

Mercy's strange connection to these strange creatures of shadow and night is about to get her into some seriously deep water.

Luckily, Mercy isn't exactly normal herself.

Moon Called is a great start for a great series. I had much fun reading these books.

Mercy Thompson have more focus on werebeasts than vampires. But it has other supernatural elements too. It also has a female lead character, and its a very good series.

Merit was a graduate student until she one night was attacked by a rogue vampire.

She would have been killed if another vampire had not stepped in and saved her.

Her savor wasEthan Sullivan, the master vampire of the Cadogan House. Merit moves into their mansion and has to learn to live as a vampire while someone still is trying to take her life.

The Chicagoland Vampires is an OK paranormal vampire romance book. It's not among the best in the genre, but its good enough.

If you want more in this genre then its worth reading, but if you want something fresh then you should probably avoid it. It is not unique in its genre.

Vampires are a main part of the Chicagoland Vampires books. Unlike Sookie, Merit is a vampire herself.

Samantha Moon is a female vampire with a husband and children, and she works as a private investigator.

She's trying to balance her family life and her private eye business with her somewhat inconvenient condition. Sadly her husband has an increasing problem with her body temperature.

Samantha newest case has her investigating a murder attempt on her new client Kingsley Fulcrums' life. During the job, Samantha discovers that Kingsley isn't exactly what he appears to be.

I am not sure if it is good or bad that the books are so short.

The good thing is that I can finish it without taking any kind of break, but the sad part is that it is over to son.

This is a book you should try out. If you are among the few that dos not like it, then it is only good that the book is so short.

Vampires are a main theme in the books. But unlike Sookie, Samantha is a vampire

Claire Danvers is way above an averagely intelligent 16-year-old girl who has gotten advanced placement to college.

But her parents still do not allow her to go to the distant Ivy League school of her dreams, so she ends up at Texas Prairie University instead.

She moves into a house called the Glass House with three other outcast students. Goth girl Eve, rebellious Shane, and Michael, a vampire.

The Morganville Vampires is good for being a teenage girl paranormal series.

I did stop after a few books, but that was only because there were no more books at the time. But I have no plans of taking it up again.

Georgina Kincaid is a Succubus, and she works for Hell. Oh, and she can shapeshift into anything she wants, she can even shapeshift her clothes too.

Her boss is a middle-management demon. He is constantly harassing her to drain more life force from people.

At least there's her day job at a local bookstore to keep her happy. Free books, all the white chocolate mochas she can drink, and friends, what more can a girl dream after.

But all this might come to a stop. Something dangerous is at work in Seattle's supernatural underground.

Georgina discovers that there are some creatures out there that both heaven and hell want to deny.

Succubus Blues is the first book where we follow Georgina Kincaid. This is a thrilling and sexy book series.

Absolutely worth reading if you like Urban Fantasy romance books.

Kitty Norville is the wolf with the lowest status in her pack. She is submissive to everyone.

She has just realized that she can make it on her own. Working as a midnight-shift DJ for a Denver radio station. This means that she doesn't need the pack so much as she used to.

Or so she thinks...

Kitty ends up getting one sexy werewolf-hunter and a few homicidal undead on her tail.

She may have bitten off more than she can chew?

It's a while since I last read any of these books, but I remember them as fun and interesting. They are worth reading if you like urban fantasy books.

House of Night is an ok paranormal teen series. Nothing special, but worth a read if you are into books like this.

Rose Hathaway is a half-vampire. She is a bodyguard in training for her friend Lissa Dragomir, a Moroi princess.

They go to St. Vladimir’s Academy. Its a hidden boarding school for vampires. Full blood vampires learn magic and half-bloods train to be their protectors.

Vampire Academy is a good teen paranormal romance book. They are worth checking out.

Sookie Stackhouse works as a waitress at Merlotte's, a bar in Bon Temps a small southern town in the states.

One day she meets Bill Compton, a 173-year old vampire. He stands out to her and they hit it off early on.

Vampires are outed to the world.

They try to be accepted as regular humans. A synthetic blood alternative called True Blood is their main strategy for acceptance.

Sookie`s life gets seriously complicated when she gets involved with the supernatural world. But Sookie is not an ordinary person herself either. She has the ability to read thoughts. Except for the thoughts of vampires. Witch is why Bill stood out to her when she met him.

True Blood is loosely based on the book series Southern Vampire Mysteries.

True Bloodis an excellent TV show.

The story separates itself from the books after the first season, but that's OK. You should watch this show.

True Blood is the TV Show version of the book.

The first season somewhat follows the books, but after that, it diverges widely from the books.

But its a really good TV Show that is worth watching, especially if you like the books.

Elena and her brother Jeremy lives in Mystic Falls with their aunt Jenna. She moved in as their guardian after they lost their parents.

On Elena's first day back at school after her parent's death she meats Stefan, a mysterious new guy. What Elena dos not know is that Stefan is an old vampire.

They gradually grow closer, until Stefans`s older brother, Damon, shows up and acts like an evil bastard.

I remember liking Vampire Diaries at on point, but then I grew tired of the show. It is a popular show, so you should probably give it a try.

The Vampire Diaries has vampires and romance. The main difference is that it is more aimed toward teenagers.

But it's still worth giving a try if you like The Southern Vampire Mysteries.

Bitten is based on the excellent book series; Women of the Otherworld by Kelley Armstrong.

We follow Elena Michaels, a werewolf that abandoned her pack. She took refuge in the city where she got a successful photography career.

But trouble is brewing at the packs home, and her alpha is calling her back. What will come of her peaceful life, and will the pack survive?

Bitten is a good show. Not as good as the books, but absolutely worth watching. Especially if you like paranormal fantasy and werewolves. Its not a teen show. It has older actors.

Bo is a sexy succubus, and to feed she sucks the life force out of people.

For years she did not know what she was and had no control of her feeding.

She fled one corpse after another.

Until one day she accidentally crossed paths with Kenzi, a drifter, and a thief.

Bo rescued Kenzi from a date rape scum bag by killing him, which this time finally made the fae catch up with her.

The fae is split into two sides, light and dark. Each Fae must choose one of the sides, and stick to it.

Bo, who until now has lived outside the fae community, vows to live on her own terms. Even if it means existing alone between the dark and the light.

She manages this with the help of her mischievous, but loyal friends. Her friend Kenzi, the handsome shapeshifter Dyson and the beautiful human scientist Lauren.

While Bo tries to unravel the riddle of her mysterious past, she and her friends also have to tackle other problems that arise.

This is a really cool series if you are into this kind of stuff.

Absolutely worth watching.
