Tv Show cover: Elementary

Elementary

Elementary is a modern take on the classic stories of Sherlock Holmes. Sherlock is now living and working as a detective in New York, although he lived and worked in England earlier. He works as a consultant to the NYPD and is assisted by the beautiful Joan Watson, a former surgeon, who now works as a sober companion. She is originally hired to help Sherlock stay away from his coke habit but also ends up as an assistant for Sherlock.

Is it good:
It`s not the best Sherlock series, but it is still a good show. Interesting to have a female Dr. Watson.

Why:
Elementary is also a police procedural with humor and seriousness mixed. The main characters also work tightly with the police without being police themselves, but they are highly skilled private investigators. Can Sherlock Holmes be anything but highly skilled? Give Elementary a try if you like Castle, they have many similarities.

Tv Show cover: Numbers

Numb3rs

Charles Eppes, a mathematician, and his brother, Special Agent Don Eppes teams up to solve criminal cases for the FBI together. Charles and his friends from CalTech University and uses equations to help solve various crimes.

Is it good:
This is a cool series. I have watched it a couple of times. It`s interesting to see how they use different algorithms to solve criminal cases. Like most shows, they do simplify things. Some of the data points are much too complicated to gather in the time they do and some of the data is way too generalized to get so exact results as they get. I could keep going, but this is not important. This show still rocks.

Why:
Numbers is also a police procedural show with a consultant, Charlie Eppes, that helps out when the law enforcement, FBI, need help on special cases. Numbers focus more on looking serious and scientific about how professor Eppes helps to solve cases. Check out Numb3rs if you like Castle.

Is it good:
This is an interesting show, lots of cons and tricks. Cool to watch. If you like crime shows, then you should give it a try.

Why:
Neal Caffrey is also working as a consultant for law enforcement, the FBI in his case. Only Neal is a con man, and he is not working entirely willingly with the police. Its also mostly a light-hearted and witty police procedural. Definitely give White Collar a try if you like Castle.

Psych is a hilarious show full of witty commentary. I haven't seen the last seasons, but I want to do it if I get time. This is a delightful show that will give you plenty of laughs.

Why:
Psych is less serious and relays more on comedy than Castle and the crimes are less serious. But it does have similar quick witty interactions and usage of cultural references like Castle. So give Psych a try if you like Castle.

Is it good:
This is a superb show. I can't fathom why it got canceled after only one season. I want a new show like this.

Why:
Nathan Fillion is the main character in Firefly too. That's it, that's the main reason for checking it out, and that Firefly is an excellent show. If you like Nathan Fillion and Castle then you definitely will like Firefly.

This is a really good show. They drag the Red John story out a little too long, but that`s OK since the main part of the show is the individual cases and the relationships between the characters.

Why:
The Mentalist, just like Castle, is also a police procedural kind of show, and both main characters are consultants. Only Patrick Jane is an ex mentalist (con man), while Castle is a famous crime author.

This is one of the more interesting criminal shows. I watched up to season seven, I think, but then I fell off. But this show is definitely worth giving a try.

Castle and Criminal Minds are actually not too similar, but both shows kind of goes into the mind of criminals. Alto Caste is more on the funny and less scientific side.

Why:
Bones is also a police procedural, and just like Castle it has riddles and clues and a bit of humor, but it's more serious than Castle.

Is it good:
I love this show. I know it`s jet another crime show with a specially gifted but flawed main person, but I still like it. Some people get in a fizzy fit because the TV show goes too far away from the comic it`s based on, but I have never read the comic books so I don really care about that.

Why:
Lucifer is very much like Castle, only Lucifer is not an author, and it contains supernatural elements.
